CA

Register of a Landscape stems from a process of research and documentation that brings together nearly four hundred Catalan landscape painters and artists who, at some point in their careers, took the Catalan landscape as a subject of their work. Each of these names has been typewritten onto a leaf previously collected in the Fageda d’en Jordà, a site linked to the landscape tradition of the Olot School.

Conceived as a site-specific project for the Pati Obert at the Cercle Artístic de Sant Lluc, a space closely linked to the history of Catalan art, the installation begins with a photograph of this site that functions as a physical opening within the space. From this image, a carpet formed by the previously collected and typewritten leaves extends across the floor, unfolding the landscape beyond the photograph. The work thus brings into relation the represented territory, its artistic memory and the place from which this genealogy is evoked.
